CONWELL S. WORTHINGTON II and
MICHAEL COLEMAN, The team of Conwell S. Worthington II and Michael Coleman have more than 50 years of combined theatrical experience in producing, directing, and writing live theatrical productions and special events throughout the world, including their successful stint as international producers for Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The team was responsible for producing Disney’s first musical in England, Austria, Germany, Australia and the Pacific Rim, which brought in more than $150 million in revenue. Most recently, the company produced the successful award winning production of The Laramie Project, at the Laguna Playhouse. The play was first presented at the Colony Theatre in Los Angeles and won critical acclaim garnering several Los Angeles Ovation awards, including Best Play, Best Ensemble and Best Director. In addition, the Cornerstone Company presented a showcase of a new theatrical clown show in Los Angeles, which has been reconceived and rewritten by Michael Coleman, entitled, CLOWN ODYSSEY. ‘TIS THE SEASON (A holiday show in Los Angeles) a new musical spectacular in Las Vegas and a through composed musical for Broadway written by Michael Coleman about the Civil War, CROSSROADS TO FREEDOM. Other notable accomplishments include creating, directing, and producing the opening night NHL hockey ceremony extravaganza on ESPN for Disney’s Mighty Ducks. In addition, they were heavily involved in the opening of Toontown, Fantasmic for Walt Disney’s live special events and Mr. Coleman wrote the Mighty Ducks theme song for Mighty Ducks II film, entitled, “Rock the Pond!” Other highlights worth noting was Mr. Worthington’s staging of THE KING AND I on Broadway with the legendary Yul Brynner, with which Mr. Coleman assisted in staging the children into the show. Mr. Worthington also co-directed the very successful National Tour of THE KING AND I, starring the late Rudolf Nureyev, and along with Mr. Coleman were associate producers of SUGAR starring Robert Morse at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. Before working together for over six years at Disney, Coleman and Worthington produced and/or created numerously successful shows including The Red Skelton Concert, The Andy Williams Christmas Show, and The Doug Henning Magic Show in concert, Victor Borge, Tony Bennett and Tom Jones, as well as charitable events with Beverly Sills, Angela Lansbury, Itzack Perlman, Red Skelton, Dick Van Dyke, Danny Kaye and Ethel Merman. They also originated, directed, wrote and produced the phenomenally successful The Glory of Christmas in Los Angeles market starring Dean Jones, Debby Boone, and featuring the London Symphony Orchestra, and directed, and produced the critically acclaimed The Glory of Easter starring the narration of Gregory Peck, and featuring Michael York. Recently, the two of them co-directed the dinner show for Caesars’ Palace new $60 million dollar attraction, Caesars’ Magical Empire. |
